Hello there! Are you interested in upcoming MMORPG placed in world of Conan? Perhaps you know this character from such movies as “Conan the Barbarian” or either “Conan the Destroyer” featuring one of the strongest actors in the Hollywood, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Maybe these movies had pretty strong fantasy and adventure movie feeling and it was hard to call them “bloody and barbaric” but I am not able to say that they were bad. Not to mention that films have been made during the “best times” of Arnold. If you had chance to watch Hercules in New York then you know what I mean. By the way Hercules has 2,8/10 on iMDB – well, it’s surely bad movie but just hilarious to watch.
But let’s go back to gaming. I have played a lot MMO games such as Dark Age of Camelot, Lineage II, Everquest 2 and of course most popular and successful MMORPG in the world, World of Warcraft.
When at the beginning I’ve heard about Age of Conan, I became pretty interested with vision of adventuring through Hyboria. Developers have been saying that game will feature completely new, unique and dynamic fighting system and exciting Player vs. Player battles. I wonder how it’s going to look like. I am playing in World of Warcraft since its premiere and I have to admit, that it’s surely boring from time to time. It depends on class of course, but I really would like to play in something “more real” than standing and cast fireballs.
And yes, my main World of Warcraft character is mage. Why’s that? Well, since Baldur’s Gate I was always playing warriors, paladins and tank looking classes. It was of course most logic choice, because it was almost impossible to play as a mage in first Baldur’s Gate while having six hit points and just few spells. It would be a clear suicide. Anyway, I picked undead mage and began my adventures in Tirisfal Glades. Quests were pretty funny and interesting to complete, monsters were trying to be scary from time to time, but overall impression was really nice. Since the start three years has passed and I managed to create few more characters to have more fun. I played as Warrior, Warlock, Hunter and Paladin on different server. I have to admit that the most entertaining to play was surely Hunter. Tauren Hunter. Catching various unique pets sounded as challenge and had some fun with catching one elite mob. But I did and I am extremely proud of it. Of course I could do it later at the later stages of game and while being stronger, but there wouldn’t be any element of pride in it.
Anyway, going back to Age of Conan, purpose of existence of this blog is writing about Age of Conan and also if it will be worth it, other games. I am not able to wait for release of Age of Conan. And you? What do you think – it will be WoW killer? Will it success? Well, we will see. Everything depends on developers and ideas which will implement into the game. We also can’t forget that it will be game only for mature gamers, so it will be hard to win with WoW which is for teenagers.
